Re: the chess thing. They got the writer's assistant to set up the board in the right way back in LA and then took a picture of it. On the day of shooting in ABQ, they couldn't find the picture and no one on set knew enough about chess to replicate it. They held up shooting to call the dude back in LA who they described the positioning over the phone.
