VG was saying that they always knew they wanted to close the loop by having Jesse find out about Walt's complicity in Jane's death.
For a long time, VG kept trying to convince the other writers that Mike (who came in to do clean up duty) should figure out that someone was in the room based on his examination of the scene. He would later tell Jesse or at least give Jesse enough info to figure it out. The other writers convinced VG that Mike would have had to have been Super Colombo to figure that out, so he eventually let it go.
