In response to "if the battery cranks but doesn't turn over, it's likely not the battery. or the alternator. -- nm" by amanda

It better not f---ing be the alternator. I just got a new one last month. It's whrr, whrr, whrr, then it turns over.

Each time I start it, it seems to take one more whrr than last time. Although I believe the problem is lack of confidence. When I was really down about the car, it was giving me lots of trouble, to the point where it wouldn't turn over at all. I waited, gave it another go, and it started after a few whrrs. Then I stopped at a grocery store - because I'm daring and frankly it couldn't be avoided - and after coming out I was feeling pretty good. I figured, heck, I've got roadside assistance. If the car gives me trouble, I'll just call someone. And this time it only whrr'd once.

I've got a battery charger for the car but I don't have an extension cord! I'm waiting on my ex to bring one over.
