Is that a voodoo doll with a spear through it hanging on the light fixture in the 3rd photo? (Love the old fashioned pull down window blinds too)

The pic of them on the porch is my favorite though ... Your parents seem so cool! The just seem so unpretentious - yet cool!
Sorry - I have no suggestions for a fix to the indoor lighting - I rather liked the effect it gave your pictures here though ... for what it's worth :)
