When I'm on the phone with my mom, "bye" apparently means "I have about five more things I'm going to bring up now."

A couple of times lately, I've hung up after exchanging byes, and then later she would tell me "I was going to tell you X, but you hung up."
I think texting has kind of spoiled me in this regard, though.
