So I park my car share car across the street from my house and I'm getting out, when...

old neighbour (80ish, thick German accent) who I've just parked in front of comes out of his house and asks me why I parked there and he can't ever park in front of his house because people always take his spot. (The street is 2 hr parking, but we also have indefinite local resident permit parking). That's not how it works I say, and don't you have back lane parking like everyone here on this street? Well, he says, I'm parking in my garage. OK, then... I shrug my shoulders and say I've already signed out of the car and I'm not signing in again to move it. It'll be gone in 2-3 hours anyway, most likely. But you don't own the street in front of you, as so many people seem to think (the spot in front of my house is almost always taken). As I'm walking away it occurs to me ... wait, why didn't you move your car out in front when the spot was available?
