Don't know if this got answered yet. ( haven't read all the BBs yet) But one of the first things that was covered by the ACA is existing conditions.

Enacted shortly after it was voted on. Insurance companies have to cover pre-existing conditions, but they can charge more for doing it. Don't know if that changes with the exchanges.
