After watching Twelve Angry Men again last night, I have a legal question for the ST lawyers.

In the film, Henry Fonda's Juror character does some investigating on his own. He goes to a shop that the accused went to, and buys a knife exactly like the murder weapon. He then brings that purchased knife into the deliberation room.
Aside from any weapons charges he might get, is that sort of investigation by a juror legal? Could he bring his own evidence into the room for the other jurors to see?
