The problem with that stat is that it only considers players who make rosters.

Add in the other 50 players who train from spring until the final cut and the numbers are instantly cut in half. Plus, agents take their cut and the money instantly leads to a high tax rate. The money for most NFL players is nowhere near what it is reported to be.
