I think it's pretty hard for it to work - the pressure on NFL players to spend their money must be pretty intense.

I mean, you've worked hard and sacrificed for years and now it's pay-day. And you're still working hard, so why shouldn't you party hard too? It's hard to think of your salary as "rest of your life" money, especially when other team-mates are buying Corvettes
Plus, there are people like your parents who've made their own sacrifices for you and you feel a need to pay them back.
Plus you're in the NFL, so there's no shortage of people assume you have unlimited money and want you to spend it on having a good time with them.
It's hard to see a couple of lessons on financial management winning out against that.
