In response to "An agency by agency look at the impact of a government shutdown -- (link)" by con_carne

Craziness. I'm being furloughed as of close of business tomorrow, not related to the govt shutdown, but the shutdown will probably have an affect on

my ability to collect unemployment. When there's a furlough for "lack of work", as is my furlough ("officially"), unemployment kicks in after a week waiting period. It's unclear whether the state will separate my furlough from the shut-down furlough. When a furlough is budget-related, the state is not obligated to pay unemployment. So hundreds of thousands of people will likely lose pay, especially since many of the teabaggers have said they won't approve retro-active pay when the shutdown ends. It's like they don't realize govt workers are voters, too.
