Super duper spoiler question re: Breaking Bad finale - (spoilers)

I watched the first 5 or so episodes of the show - then the finale last night. I didn't care about being spoiled. Soon I'll start watching the rest of them.

Anyway - those of you who watched from start to finish - would you have thought the finale ended on a satisfactory note had Walt lived? Or was this a case of him needing to die in order to "make everything right"?
