So today a nurse accidentally hung some albumin for a patient when the actual order was discontinued 3 days ago. My senior saw it running and

asked why it was there. Apparently there was some mix up with the pharmacy and some previous nurse not discontinuing the order.

I am not sure how much of it was given but it is not harmful. But either way it is still a mistake. The nurse then asked that my senior write an order as if she had ordered it (kind of common actually), my senior refused. Even thought it wasn't really harmful if someone were to look back in the chart they would question why it was written. Especially since one of the consult services told us to stop it 3 days ago.

The annoying part was that the nurse then called one of our other team members who wasn't aware of anything and try to get a verbal from him for it. He didn't. She then sort of approach me but I gave her a look and she backed off.

So now the nurse hates us. Which sucks because now I probably won't get any help from her. :(

Overall it wasn't really her mistake. Somehow the albumin showed up on her list of meds to give today. Either a previous nurse didn't record the d/c order or pharmacy screwed up somewhere.

(Pharmacy and everyone was notified and they will look into)
