I don't think so - it's just human nature to credit yourself for your successes, and devalue the contributions made by others.

I always think of the foreign aid question. Lots of Americans think the government spends some ridiculous amount on foreign aid, like 50% of the budget, or whatever. But when they are told the real amount (which is a fraction of 1%), the universal response is "Really? That's all? It should be more"
When people have good information, they tend to make the right decision. The problem is that we're in a complex world with information coming at us from every direction, and it's hard to tell the good information from the bad.
