I'm watching interviews with Mark Leibovich this afternoon. Senior national correspondent with the NYT Magazine.
He maintains that partisanship is largely an illusion and that D.C. is much more interconnected (but disconnected from the citizenry) than they want us to believe. i.e., keeping us arguing over red v. blue so we don't notice they've become a "permanent feudal class"
