See I loved the beginning and thought Hugh was fantastic.

But, I love musicals--both movies and Broadway shows. It didn't drag on and on like some do and he ended it on just the right note. I also liked the change in the acting awards presentations. It made it seem a bit more personal and gave it sort of a "passing of the torch" feeling.
In the interest of full disclosure though, I could have easily watched another two hours. I hate hate hate it when the ceremony is nothing more than a uber fast parade of winners racing to the podium, speaking for 40 seconds and being played off, just in time to have 2 people with nothing in common read 30 seconds of jokey lines to each other from a teleprompter. This is their night to shine, let them shine. Since the academy embraces all the movie related arts, I'd like to see more done with foreign films, documentaries, animated shorts and yes, musicals. Historically, they've been popular longer than they haven't and I hate the way they seem to be dying out. I'm ready for more Mama Mias and Greases, bring it on. :)
