At this point the GOP is looking for something to save face because they've painted themselves into a corner. So they're looking for something little

they can get out of this. The problem with getting rid of the medical device tax is that it will give them more ammunition in the future to show that Obamacare costs too much (since there will be less revenue to offset it). The idea behind the tax is that because so many more people will have insurance and finally get access to these medical devices, the company's that make them will get a boon and they should help pay for it. It's a less than 2.5% tax. It's not big dollars in the end, but it hurts the bottom line.
