To the first part, no. We've still seen the Tea Party make inroads - Cruz, Rubio, Rand Paul all have tea party connections. Jim De Mint too, while he

was in office.

And there were a few high profile Republican Senators who lost their seats during preselection to tea party candidates.

So there's certainly Tea Party influence in the Senate - though obviously not as much as in the House, where the Republicans have a majority
