get one of those storage racks that fit over it, fill it with stuff, and you won't see the unpainted back of the tank -- nm

go to TAP plastics, buy a thin sheet to fit/glue behind, get a pretty color, paint it, or...paper it.

turn off water. remove toilet tank. paint. replace tank. turn water on. :) -- nm
