go to TAP plastics, buy a thin sheet to fit/glue behind, get a pretty color, paint it, or...paper it.

if there are any pipes that come out of the wall behind, you can cut some grooves from the bottom up, no one will notice them.
you can just slide it down behind and glue or screw down, or even put thin molding to frame it and hold it down
