I just don't see anyone ever saying Swank is better than Meryl though.

that's where this breaks down. Swank won 2 that she merited. Meryl hasn't (you didn't try to sway me on any of the 13 losses)....
that's a losing argument to me that it's only based on numbers that no one really would argue mean anything en masse.
