If they pushed it 6 weeks; we'd have multiple weeks of stories of how badly the system is now running

Remember, Bush won in 2004 on a mandate to continue his Iraqi War...the Democrats let him hang himself on his mis-management of his signature program and rode a wave in 2006.
So far, the reality of the exchange websites being bad is being obscured by the partisan debt stuff that wouldn't be the case if they'd settled.
And sure, they might solve the issue in the time they have left, but that's ascribing a lot of competency from a group that rolled this out technologically.
