They are not a couple. They are an awful idea for a couple.
It's a small miracle that their friendship is even believable, but a chick like her isn't going that far off the reservation to be with Sheldon.
Leonard is just nerdy enough as a character to make it believable; much farther and you're into 100% GTFOH territory.
