I like the one of him centered on the bridge....but I'm sure if you waited an another hour the light would have been softer, without the bright white

sky....either that or scrim the subject with a sheet of translucent fabric that softens the light but only takes a little over a stop of light, this leaves the background a little faded pastelish but not blocked up washed out white....and if you find a background that is shaded then its only a stop or so under the subject exposure which puts it in the relm of low key but not black.
but the cool thing about bridges that is there is nearly always a place to get to the water level where you get the subject in some shaded area and the bridge in the background so with an off camera flash to boost your subject to about equal or one stop under, you get a cool foreground/backgroung juxtap going.
I see some good rusty girders, a nice shot would be a close up with just rust behind him...again either scrim or wait for twilight/soft penumbra shade
