In response to "OK - I've had this on my mind for 5 hours now but it's such a FWP I feel silly posting it ... story/overshare inside" by JenBro

Keep in mind you're in a small market so new places will get more attention than they might in a larger market.

In other words, you (being where you are) will always hear about a new place. So your expectations, based on what you heard before going there, were probably higher.

My take on the info on the website is they're striving to be "something" but the owners' backgrounds indicate they're still "in training to be something". No phone? What's that about?

If you liked the food then that should be reason enough to go back - if you can overlook the shoddy service. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that during off season the better servers will already be working at more established places - or back in school. It could be the owners are struggling with off season help who aren't up to the sophistication the place is striving for.

If you really liked the food I'd say go back one more time. Your experience this time could have been a fluke. If the food was so-so no amount of good service is going to offset that.

I'd hold off sending advice until after going again. Based on the Q&A page they don't seem to suffer for lack of clientele. So your experience could have been unique.
