I have almost no problem with the social safety net. I don't care if some of my money goes to feeding kids who otherwise would go hungry - even if they're raised by awful people who don't take the responsibility upon themselves to do it. I don't even care if some people game that system if that means good is done. It's a cost I'm happy to bare.
What I do have a problem with is an entire generation+ of voters indoctrinated into believing that poor brown people are the mooching enemy. This Ayn Rand fetish is skillfully advanced by those expert in mass manipulation.
I recognize the Mortgage Deduction is a cost to the country. But until I see other groups who systematically have stolen from the middle class for 30 years, while blaming the poor, start contributing...I won't be happy if it goes away. If you think I want the Deduction because it lines my pocket - you missed my point.
If you think my attitude is part of the problem well - I'm not sure what to say to you.
That's as blunt as I care to be on ST.
