j/k. If someone gives you a hard time, just say you're employing the 'informal' usage. ;)
But seriously, your story is more of an example of coincidence. Irony requires some element of 'opposite'. Like, if you have been playing MyVegas for months and then sign a new client that's an anti-gambling advocacy group... THAT'S irony!
