A couple weeks ago amazon recommended an album by the Montana Orchestra that I didn't know existed.

I've been a fan of Vince Montana since the 70s. He co-founded Sigma Sound Studios and was a big influence on the Philly Sound. I discovered him through MFSB and the Salsoul Orchestra. He played vibraphone, was the band leader and also arranged. Over the past year or so I've been collecting a lot of songs from the era that I didn't already have (remixes mostly - if you like this style, search for "Tom Moulton mix") so I was pleasantly surprised to come across this album.
I was listening to it after I got home from work and remembered a vocalist he worked with, Carol Williams. I have her 1st LP on vinyl but had forgotten about her until now. So I looked her up, listened to a couple of songs on youtube and then saw in a comment that Montana died in April. He was 85.
I mention all this only because I enjoy a lot of his music (late-period Salsoul was not so good as early) and wanted to memorialize him because I suspect many of you have never heard of him but I'm sure you've heard many songs he worked on.
