update to my earlier post today concerning cursing the academic gods ...

ok, so part of what brought it on was that a former professor from Spring semester sent out an email to some of us who took a "Gothic Lit and the Cinema of Torture" class back in the spring. since Halloween is coming up next week, she's organizing a viewing of Hellraiser next week and she is inviting along some of her former students.
anyway, my conundrum arose out of the fact that she's offering a new Gothic Literature topics class next term and it is listed for Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons. I really wanted to take the class, but it conflicts with a class I have to take for my program, which is a 1-day a week class on Thursday afternoons at the same time.
anyway, I emailed her this afternoon saying that I'd love to make it to the movie screening. in doing so, I jokingly said that I'd love to be able to sit in on some of her classes next term on Tuesdays.
she emailed me back saying that it'd be okay to do so, so long as I've read up on the materials the class is discussing on a given Tuesday.
I think that i'm going to do that. I might not be able to get "official credit" for taking the class, but if a professor says it's okay to sit in on some classes, I'm all for it.
