As one of the options in my advertising recommendation toolbox, I'll go to Facebook ads only rarely.

It easily has the worst response of any type of advertising I can recommend, and since that matters to most companies, it's problematic for sure.
I generally only consider it for broad reach campaigns (a recent one was Humana, where they're looking to get the word out to a *lot* of people in a lot of locations about their ACA options5).
