When did Facebook do away with the granular controls for filtering newsfeed content from your various friends?

I can no longer find the controls to say "don't show me stuff from categories x, y, z from person a"

Now it looks like I can either follow them or not follow them. But being able to block just the annoying content seems to have gone away

    - you used to be able to be really selective - you could block Status, Game updates, photos, etc. By item or by importance level. -- nm - Andie Oct 30, 12:09 11
