Given the stories coming out, it's entirely plausible. There's more than 1 veteran 300lb guy on the team;

and the path to acceptance in an NFL locker room seems to be littered with "Doing bullshit that wouldn't fly in a real professional environment."
Add in de facto extortion and shit like that....yeah. It's easy to see a person hating his work enviroment and feeling that it's not a place to raise concerns beucase it's generational in the NFL that rookies/young guys must pay dues.
Add in this kid being a Stanford kid, he's not a dummy who is unable to comprehend what a shit sandwich he's being told to eat by veterans.
