A few comments about buying UV codes...

1) If you want something on the day of release, expect to pay $5-$6 for it. Two weeks later, the same code may be half that price.

2) Logic works in reverse on codes. The more popular a movie is, the more codes will be in circulation due to have disc sales. Ergo, those become codes you can get for a dollar or two if you don't need them on opening day. People couldn't give away The Hunger Games toward the end of last year because everyone who wanted it already had it. Conversely, the two most difficult codes people have tried to get recently are The Way Way Back and The Bling Ring.

3) I strongly suggest buying Blu Ray codes only. Right now, you may not care. In 2015, you will be kicking yourself for having outdated files. The price difference is only a dollar or two so be forward thinking.

4) The Blu-Ray.com thread was linked earlier. I have attached a link to the less trafficked CAG thread at the bottom of this page.

5) There are other mailing lists worthy of consideration besides the one mentioned on b2. The person running that one went to redrum with me after an honest mistake on my part and I cannot in good conscience recommend her now because she seems psycho. The mailing lists I mention frequently have codes prior to the day of release for a movie, albeit at a higher cost of $5.

6) If you buy a code for an HBO show, it will not be accessible to the other people in your group. Some TV shows will. They are largely the ones whose codes redeem through Flixster. My suggestion is never to expect a tv show code to propagate. If it does, that is a serendipitous bonus for the others in your group.

7) Disney works the same way as rule #6 right now. Since they are not members of UV, they are doing a short term workaround. A few of their discs come with codes. Only the person who redeems gains access to the film, though. If you buy a Disney code, it will only work for you, at least until Disney joins UV.
