gotta share this ok? (work brag) - I just closed the deal to insure a 1.35 mil home - plus car - boats - etc. YAY - but it's the "why" that's braggy

it was a very nice referral to a co-worker - so she'll earn 1st year commission on it - and I'm thrilled we got it - the guy called me this morning to tell me it's a go - and shared with me the reason he picked us.

he was shopping his rate because the company who insured him made a correction for his fire rate that had been wrong for years - and his rate went way up

it was because his agent is downstate and didn't know local fire rates - and they used a company we have too

well - we just got a call Friday from the same company saying they were reversing their recent rate change and switching back fire classes until next year when they could fine tune the rates

So - I called the guy I had quoted and gave him a heads up that he should talk to his agent downstate and let them know if they didn't already - it could get him a reduction - but that I still hoped we were in the running and that he'd choose us for local service

Apparently, the honesty of my calling him to let him know about that was the thing that sealed the deal. The other agent had proposed a policy with a new company he had never heard of - and their rate was a little bit lower than mine. But he decided to go with us because I made that call - he's all about honesty and reputation (things we feel strongly about as well).

So - that totally made my day - and the day of my co-worker as well. By the time everything's written - it'll be about 250$ in her pocket :) so ... YAY!
