Initial reports were $65 million. Its performance is not mirroring the original.

The Hunger Games had lower earnings on Thursday night, higher ones during Friday matinees then lower grosses on Friday night. Hunger Games grossed $67.26 million on Friday, so this is 4.8% improvement overall. Hunger Games grossed $47.6 million on Friday proper. Catching Fire's total is about $45.5 million. The debate is whether it holds better over the weekend. Since The Hunger Games had an IM of 2.267, it should but nothing is guaranteed. The factor Catching Fire has working "against" it that its predecessor did not is that a lot of people may be waiting for Thanksgiving. The Hunger Games was at $248.5 million after 10 days. Catching Fire should smoke that total yet I doubt it approaches the final take of The Hunger Games, at least domestically.
(Use any of this you want.)
