vgchartz just makes educated guesses. On Oct. 17, Microsoft's press release says that the Xbox360 passed 80 million in sales.

As of November 2nd, Sony says the PS3 passed 80 million in sales.

If the PS3 was really a million a head, they would have sent out that press release much earlier.
