i would have been ok without it for quite some time(after that past debt and some layoff-related badness made me nervous, i turned to saving a lot). having to use savings would have truly sucked, though.
i'm glad i can still have my cushion, especially since i have no idea what job i may have when i return to work. and i'll have orthopedic issues to address for the rest of my life. ugh.
