STIS: If I'm looking to book a flight and hotel which sites should I be using? I haven't tried to plan a vacation in more than a decade, I need help.

My gf has traveled to New Mexico but she stays with her mom so she just books the cheapest flight possible.
I need to get tickets and a hotel. Should I do it all separately? Do I buy roundtrip tickets or each way separately? Should I look for a deal with flight + hotel?
I'm so worried I'm going to overpay.
I think I may need to get my driver's license sooner rather than later.

Once you have an idea of what you want to do, be sure to check the actual providers' websites...

I use Kayak. They have basically everyone except Southwest and maybe some ultra LCC carriers. -- nm

Costco? When I've done both together, I've gone through Expedia, but I think most of the big name ones (Kayak, Expedia, Hotwire) all do both. -- nm
