It's also a $5 year subscription service that will allow storage of many many many Pokemon. Far more than you are allowed in any one game.
It will be released along with a Transporter to allow you to bring Pokemon from prior games. Allegedly, it'll keep hacked ones out from the latest generation. But I doubt it.
