it's completely transparent - every transaction is seen and logged. that is unique to this currency.

what it's for is irrelevant, it's the fact that it's all known that's the important part.
banks, the government, etc do not have that transparency.. a lot of people view injecting money into the supply, fixing inflation, etc as voodoo and kind of dishonest.
bitcoins have no value other than what others are willing to pay or exchange goods/services for.. the value isn't set by anybody but the people who use them. that's power to the people.
