yes, initially he's a badass robot killing-machine. i believe he actually had several other IG-models with him, at least 1 of which shows up in Cloud City and ends up on the scrap heap. But then IG-88 ends up trying to download his "essence" onto the 2nd Death Star's computer system, wanting to take it over, allowing the Empire to use the Death Star to wipe out the Alliance, and then IG-88 would have fully taken over the death star to wipe out the Empire ... yeah ... there was just 1 minor problem with all of that ...
