The facts:
1. I am scheduled to fly O'Hare to JFK this afternoon.
2. It is still snowing in Chicago. 3-5 more inches expected today. Winds picking up later. Surprisingly, no reported ground delay or ground stop programs right now though.
3. The plane that is currently assigned to my flight is delayed three hours in Cancun. (I don't know why) and has not taken off yet. That delay could extend. We could possibly be reassigned another plane (they have not delayed my flight yet despite the fact that the Cancun plane is due in two hours after my flight is supposed to leave, so I am hoping for a new plane).
4. There is freezing rain in NY. JFK airport is fully closed after a Delta Express flight slid off of a taxiway due to ice.
5. New York is supposed to rise above freezing and transition to rain around lunch or early afternoon. The airport is estimated to re-open at 11:30am ET but that could change.

Should've gone yesterday ;) I got through Chicago with a minimum of fuss - delays on landing and take-off due to the de-icing process.
