2008 was about bang on predictions.
2009 was less active
2010 and 2012 were more active (2012 significantly so) - 2011 about even with predictions.
2013 was quite a bit less active.

The weathermen can't predict 10 days out very well on the forecast, why would you expect them to predict 6 months out on hurricanes? -- nm

Seriously. I ignore every long-range forecast and openly mock the seasonal forecasts like the hurricane predictions -- nm
