Absolutely, it's necessary to space out your meals and balance your caloric intake

with what you burn.

But the "never after 8" is a bit of hokum.

The body *needs* a specific amount of calories to operate. If you spread those calories out over the day in evenly spaced meals it's almost irrelevant when you eat so long as you eat.
