Renter problems: I was out of town for three weeks during the holiday. I get back to find a letter from 12/20 saying I did not pay December rent.

NB: I totally paid December rent but......

In (October?) we got a letter telling us to make the checks out to a new name. Instead of "Landlord Co", it is now "Landlord holding LLC". No biggie, did this, mailed November rent check. Done.

I was in Chicago for Thanksgiving and, as I do when I'm out of town, I used by on-line billpay through my bank to send a check. I even remembered to updated the name of the payee in the bank system.

But apparently the PO Box changed too. And I didn't realize that (I must have copied the PO Box from the letter for November rent, which is why I had no problem then).

Anyone, the 12/20 letter was not all mean, but it was like "you need to send me a new check and make sure it is made out the right name and to mailed to the right place because we have forwarding issues were are working on". That last part is bad because my January check was sent using Billpay too.

Anyway, I e-mailed the landlord and explained. I asked if the forwarding issues has been resolved (if so, they have both checks) or not (in which case I told them I'll mail a new check immediately).

But ugh, I hate accidentally looking like a deadbeat.
