He's a 90 year old crank. Ironically, he was Minister of National Defense under Lester Pearson, perhaps the golden age of the Canadian Forces in peace

He oversaw the integration of the Army, Navy and Air Force into the Canadian Forces. And it was during this period that Lester Pearson spearheaded Canada's place in the world as United Nations blue helmet peacekeepers.
