This is interesting. These synchronous networks (of which WWE was pretty much the first) really is what we need to break the cable monopolies.

On demand (asynchronous) content (from providers like Hulu and Netflix) is good. We all like to watch what we want, when we want it. But Grandma and Grandpa aren't used to that paradigm. They like to turn on the TV and have something on. The problem, of course, is pricing, which is what the cable companies always warned us about de-bundling. How many $10/month networks are we willing to buy?
