So, it suddenly got extremely slippery on the way home and the drive took nearly 3 hours. Not long after getting home, I notice a window well is filli

filling with water. I went downstairs and saw water on the floor under that window and of course that's where I have a whole bunch of boxes stacked up.

It's taken me hours to clean up and unbox the ones that got wet (nothing ruined thankfully) and to try to do something outside to keep the water from getting in again.

Much of the problem is that the end of the downspout has been covered in snow which hid the fact that the previous thaw refroze and blocked up the pipe. The water has been backing up at the bend at the bottom of the vertical section so the water is leaking out through the articulated curved part.

In the end, I put a bucket under the leaky part and will have to go out and empty it a few times through the night.

I'm wiped but still have to do a bunch of stuff for work. Argh.
