I know it's not what you want to hear, but I'd let the justice system run it's course.

Guards have an "unintentional" problem with disclosing convictions to other inmates. I'm guessing the BIL will not have a pleasant time in the clink.
Besides, you could always bide your time and exact some anonymous vengeance when he gets released. Two for one.
