of those five superlong lasting, energy saving, hyperthingamajig lightbulbs that I bought two years ago, number 4 has died now.

they take ages to become bright, they contain poisonous stuff, they don't live as long as the old lightbulbs .. but of course we had to ban the old ones because the new ones are so much better.
crap. gettig LEDs now.

maybe they were a bad bunch, who knows. LED will be next -- nm

CFLs aren't ideal for certain uses (recessed fixtures). But LEDs have really come down in price and improved in quality.
